QUICK FACTS

Martin is a research associate at SEQART AFRICA. He is part of the Wet Lab team and he is mainly involved in all aspects of sample processing using DArTSeq technology. He also supports analytics team in basic Marker data generation and Quality Control. He provides support to breeders and scientists in good sampling and preservation techniques for plant and animal samples. Before joining SEQART, Martin worked as a Research Associate at the Integrated Genotyping Support and Service (IGSS) platform under the BecA-ILRI Hub.

Martin underwent a one-year skill-based training on Genotyping by Sequencing using DArTSeq technology at DArT laboratories situated in University of Canberra, Australia. Before joining ILRI Martin was an attaché at Kenya Medical Research Institute, Centre for Infectious and Parasistic Diseases Control Research (KEMRI-CIPDCR) where he was trained on human sample handling and processing using Biochemistry, microbiology and Molecular biology techniques. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biomedical Technology from Maseno University.

Martin’s hobbies are travelling, hiking and actively participating in sports.
